Tamagawa Stream
The pure water running in this stream under the Gobyobashi comes from the holy mountain, Mt. Yoryu behind Okunoin. Wooden posts called sotoba or stupas are placed in the stream in memory of those who have died of miscarriage or by drowning. According to tradition, long ago Kobo Daishi saw children skewering and grilling fish from this stream. He was given some grilled fish but he put the fish back in the stream. The fish are said to have revived.
